Comprehensive renovation project of the classic Fairmile vessel, built in 1962.
Search for original documentation. A search is conducted to find original construction plans. Original material is located in a museum in Scotland and a duplicate of existing documents is processed, as well as original photographs of the 1962 sea trials from another museum in London. This documentation will be of great importance in the process.
- Thickness scanning work of the entire underwater body and replacement of all surface that has more than a 20% reduction in initial construction thickness, according to regulations. Welding of new plates according to certifications.
- Painting of the entire vessel, underwater body, topsides, and all superstructure.
- Complete disassembly and redesign of the engine room, replacing the entire pipe and pump system. New shafts and replacement of strut and stern tube bearings. New custom-made stern tubes. Propeller repair and balancing.
- Engines are removed and sent to Gardner (UK) for a total refit, as well as the gearboxes which are sent to the manufacturer.
- New generators with electromagnetic couplings for hydraulic pumps and new hydraulic system for operation of new stabilizers and bow thruster.
- Remodeling and reconditioning of the entire drinking water system.
- Creation of a new bilge and fire-fighting system with valve panel for high-capacity pumps, plus installation of automatic pumps in each bilge.
- Cleaning and repainting of tanks (grey water, drinking water, and fuel).
- Installation of fans and extractors in the engine room as well as installation of a fuel filtering machine.
- Installation of new electronics and water maker.
- Stability calculations and creation of a complete stability book.
- Management and advice to obtain the commercial license with Malta and be able to operate as a charter.
- Reconditioning of the bridge and kitchen introducing new equipment and appliances.
- Remodeling of the entire electrical system, creation of new electrical panels in the engine room and in each area of the vessel, as well as replacement of wiring. Implementation of Eplex home automation system for management of tank levels, pumps, and lights.
- Sea trials and delivery.
For the realization of the project, we have counted on the collaboration of different companies with a total of approximately 70 operators who have worked for almost two years at some point in the process.
